Working together for more safety in the pharmaceutical market
ACS is a company of the four major German pharmaceutical associations. Our shareholders are Pharma Deutschland e.V., the Bundesverband der Pharmazeutischen Industrie e.V. (BPI), Pro Generika e.V. and the Verband Forschender Arzneimittelhersteller (vfa).
We are part of the securPharm initiative, which operates the system for verifying the authenticity of medicines in Germany. Our contribution is the reliable operation of the pharmaceutical database of the national verification system NMVS (National Medicines Verification System).
The system records the security features of every package of prescription drugs available on the market. This makes it possible to check the authenticity of each package before it is dispensed to patients and clinics.

National Database System
The national database system – also known as NMVS or ACS MAH system – contains the package data of all prescription drugs intended for the German market.
Before a package leaves the pharmacy, it is scanned and compared with the data stored by the manufacturer in the NMVS. If the data matches, the system saves the dispensing of the package. If there are discrepancies, however, the system reports this to all stakeholders as a suspicion.
Reporting System
The ACS reporting system creates comprehensive reports and evaluations our contract partners based on the NMVS data. For example, the pharmaceutical manufacturers can see which products they have stored in the system for the German market. Various filters make it possible to evaluate important information in a targeted manner.
Alert Management System
The authenticity of a drug package is verified before it is dispensed to clinics and patients by checking its individual security feature. If an error message occurs, it is evaluated and processed in the National Alert Management System (NAMS). For this purpose, the system provides various tools that support the clarification of the causes of errors. The results are also documented in NAMS.

Secure processes - Secure systems
In order to meet the high quality demands of all interested parties, ACS has developed its own quality management system that meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. ACS sets corporate goals annually and reviews their achievement.
The regular performance of internal and external audits makes a significant contribution to the identification and tracking of opportunities and risks. ACS employees continuously expand their competencies through targeted training and qualification measures.
