PharmaProtect Solutions GmbH (PPS) is a company owned by the four leading German pharmaceutical associations: Pharma Deutschland e.V., Bundesverband der Pharmazeutischen Industrie (BPI), Pro Generika and Verband Forschender Arzneimittelhersteller (vfa).
On the initiative of these industry-supporting pharmaceutical associations, we develop and operate IT systems for the pharmaceutical industry in a regulated environment. Our goal is to meet our customers’ existing and emerging requirements efficiently, securely and reliably.

ACS stands for Anti-Counterfeit System.
The pharmaceutical industry’s database system contains the packaging data of all prescription medicines in Germany.
By comparing the packaging data printed on the pack with the data stored in the database, the system verifies the authenticity of every medicine pack before it reaches doctors and patients.
EPL stands for Electronic Product Leaflet.
The EPL system serves as a central repository for patient information leaflets for medicines in Germany. Manufacturers can upload their patient information and store it in FHIR format.
The EPL system makes this patient information available in structured form to health insurers and other authorised bodies: current, as officially approved, and free of advertising.
